Feedback on AI presentations by Jonathan Chirinos

This blog post will contain feedback regarding our presentations on AI and how they are affecting many topics associated with our lives.

Starting off with Group one, they had the topics of education and sports. Before hearing their presentation, I knew that some forms of technology/AI were already in play in sports and education. Examples of technology in sports included VAR in soccer, which is a form of technology that allows replays of the game to be played over and over again; this is helpful because it allowed referees to rewatch a certain play to see if it was a play that was allowed or not allowed. Going back to group 1's presentation, the first thing I liked about their presentation was their theme; their theme was robot/technology based and it was extremely appealing to my eyes. I also enjoyed how they included a mini character also, it made the presentation a lot more friendly and made the powerpoint more interesting rather than just slides full of information.

One thing that I liked about their presentation also is that they did not have any form of bias, when they mentioned the pros of AI in education, they also mentioned how there are cons. They began by introducing the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on education, stating that there was an increase in online education due to schools shutting down to prevent the spread of the virus. Fabiana Durante did an incredible job on her suggestions for the local, state and national government; she did her research and expressed it perfectly during her slideshow. There were many points in which I agreed with her such as trying to implement ways in using AI to help show patterns in students that may be having attendance or behavioral issues; AI can help the supervisors in school know when to intervene and how to better the situation. In my opinion, the presentation on education was full of information that was interesting and comprehendible .

Going into the sports section, which was the one that I found most exciting about from the topics we chose. I enjoyed how they kept the information on their slideshows short and simple, they did not flood their slides with information; which kept me in tune with paying attention. Members such as Estephanie Farach did well in implanting ways that AI is currently in sports such as improving the fan experience by giving updates and highlights on viewers' smartphones. Overall, I will say that group 1's presentation on these topics were done extremely well and they did a great job on explaining their topics. If I could give them any advice for future presentations then I would tell them to try to make fewer slides and not to have many words on their slides but besides that everything was done extremely well.

Group 2 which consisted of me and ten other classmates had the topics of economy and mental health. The group handled everything with professionalism, we split the topics into two groups and each member chose their topics; after this we made sure to find reliable sources and work on our presentations as soon as possible. Everyone was passionate about their topic and was well informed, we made sure to be prepared to present and to try to better ourselves from our last presentation. My classmates that were handling the economy all did their parts, one thing I enjoyed from their part was seeing them incorporate graphs and statistics; one person that stood out to me was Junhao, his slides were not just words but also graphs and statistics about the incorporation of AI in the economy. I can say the same about our slides in mental health also, I think everyone did an incredible job in presenting ways that AI is being used and how it can be used in the future.

I do have a little bit of criticism for myself, I thought that I was talking too fast and not taking my time while explaining but this is a skill that I do plan on improving on. One person that stood out for me that did the mental health portion of the slides was Jorge Guerra. I was impressed with his presentation skills on AI in mental health, he was collected and knowledgeable on the slides he was speaking on; He took his time while presenting while and took pauses that were not too long, he was looking at the audience members and seemed comfortable while presenting. I think all of us as a group did extremely well, the only form of negative feedback would have been to try to include less slides so that there is not too much information for a person to break down.

Group 3 had the topics of social life, entertainment and potential careers. Starting off with the background of their slides, I really enjoyed the creme background color they had with the blue font. I was impressed with the slides of Tatiana Vargas, she included more pictures and videos than words on her slides. She included an animated video that showed how AI can be used to create new forms of entertainment, which gave me a better understanding of how AI can be useful to help someone who has an idea but does not know the technology aspect of creation. Lorena Machado also did well on her slides, her topic was on how AI can be used to make art.

I enjoyed how she included pictures of art that had been made of AI. In a sense, it gave us as listeners a break from trying to break down information and gave us a visual break so that we can just sit back and admire the art. I am an active music listener, and what Maria Zaldivar talked about in her slides AI can be helpful to the music industry or harming the music industry. She mentioned how AI was able to use a fake recording and make a new song that sounded like the artist Drake and The Weeknd, this can be seen as a negative for the artist but can seen as a gift for us fans because we are always waiting for music. Group 3 did an amazing job, only thing I would say is at the end of their slides, they included a lot of information but I would just tell them to include less words.
