Lisa Marcos, Reflection on Presentations, SPC 2608

In our SPC 2608, we presented chapters 1-10 of the iSpeak book. In these chapters, we gained knowledge about how to present, what to do and what not to do in your speech, research and more. These presentations really shed light on many resources and information on what a good presentation should look like. Going off to group 1, they displayed a wonderful looking presentation with vibrant colors and lots of information. With the vibrant colors, it made me keep focus on the slides more, since these colors are appealing to me, the more I was engaged in their presentation. In group 1, they discussed the intricacies of creating a presentation. Whether it's selecting a topic or understanding the audience better. Their presentations were filled with lots of information and the speakers spoke very coherently and appeared to have done their research and had the knowledge to talk about their subject. This presentation really helped us understand the basics of public speaking, how we should...

Presentations Reflection (Juliet Rodriguez)

Presentations Reflection Hi, my name is Juliet Rodriguez, and I have viewed many presentations about public speaking. Listening to group 1 and 3 and presenting with my group (group 2).  I have learned many things from group 1 as they talked about chapters 1-4 which covered the intricacies of creating a presentation, such as selecting a topic and searching for information. I have learned about the presentation process which consists of seven components source, receiver message, channel, feedback, situation, and noise. This is interesting as I've never viewed presenting as a seven-step process. I would think that you just present your information and that's it, never thinking about the components involved. I have also taken note of avoiding topics that my audience has already heard unless I got about giving the information in a different way, stating new information that they haven't heard before. I'm usually nervous speak...

Reflection on Group Presentations (Leslie Iglesias)

Reflection on Group Presentations (Leslie Iglesias) Group 1     When I first saw Group 1's Powerpoint presentation I was amazed by the theme. The slides were organized and coherent; the theme united the slides across each chapter. The group did a good job with the presentation of information in their slides: they didn't have paragraphs, instead choosing to deliver their information via bullet points. There was a lot of information but it was well-organized and digestible. Their slides were all very educational. I learned a lot from their presentation; the most memorable point was the differences between logos, ethos, and pathos, which is something I've struggled to understand until this presentation. Their speeches conveyed the information concisely, but they would also expand and clarify any unclear points written in the slides. They appeared to be very organized and confident. Group 2     Since I'm part of Group 2, I may be biased but I believe we did a good...
Who doesn't love a good presentation? Especially if they're as informative as the ones presented by my fellow classmates. My groups presentation focused on the ways you can gather and organize information. Brief research helps you discover and narrow out your topic. This can also help with organizing ideas, preparing your introduction and conclusion as well as supporting the ideas. The internet can be a useful tool when planning your speech. Many search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing have an option to filter your search to specifically find what you're looking for. You do have to be careful and verify that the information is correct. Along with supporting your ideas, organization of your ideas matter. Kamryn did her slides on the 3 different principles or organizing an outline. I learned the principle of subordination helps you decide what material you have gathered is more important or less with the use of indentations or symbols. Principle of division ...

Reflection on the Book Presentations by Jorge Guerra

Hello!  I am Jorge Guerra and I shall be discussing the presentations we had covering the chapters from the book. First, I will discuss the contents of the presentations themselves, then I will discuss how the information was presented (this part will be a general overview of how people presented as a whole, as I honestly don’t have a lot to say about anyone specifically that wouldn’t just be to the effect of “Jane Doe did a very good job with their presentation and I learned a lot about this topic” for every student). I will be skipping intros and outros until the end as I want to discuss the class leaders separately. Lastly, while I am going to try to avoid critiquing anything, I will be examining parts of the presentations I think could be improved upon for future presentations but these will be broad observations not targeted towards anyone specifically. Group 1 I would say did a wonderful job. Their title slide is simple but effective and I think that statement applies to ...

Group Presentation Reflection

This first group project was honestly a great way to start and introduce this class that way we can have a good understanding of this class. Not everyone has the same expectation when it comes to taking a speech class for the first time. For example, me, I didn’t know what to expect. All I can think about is doing individual speeches in front of the whole class but thankfully this class is online, and we work among groups, so it isn’t so bad. All three groups presented great presentations on how to prepare yourself for a speech, resources to support your speech, types of speeches, and other great information. A lot of information was provided, and it made me understand and realize that there is so much more than just a simple “speech”. I will most definitely gather and use all information and resources my classmates provided for future speeches and most definitely use it for this class. Right after this presentation I had a clear understanding of this class ...

Chapter Presentations Feedback by Kamryn Samuels

Introduction to Public Speaking has been a very interesting class so far. I would like to begin by saying that all three groups did an amazing job. Each group was able to get their point across . Group 1’s presentation was concise, organized, and straight to the point. Each group member was easy to understand and the presentation itself was very eye catching. I took many things away from their presentation. Group 1 had chapters 1-4, the chapter & topic that stood out to me the most was chapter 2 with “Foundations of Public Communication”. One of the group members explained how there are 5 parts of public communication (invention, organization, style, understanding/memory, and delivery) that can help an individual give a successful speech. They even went as far as to show a video of Jessica Biel delivering a speech that was in reference to the text, it shows how the 5 cannons can help one give a remarkable speech. The speech was given calmly with no over exaggerations . It was sh...

Kristina Dimitrova, Reflection on Group Presentations

Image
Hello, my name is Kristina. I recently did my first group presentation in a public speaking class at Miami Dade College. For that assignment, the professor assigned the class into three groups, and we performed presentations based on summarizing the book chapters in Google Slides. I want to reflect on what we have done in the group presentation and absorb my experience to improve my skills in the future. I want to share my experience of working and elaborating in a group. Collaborating with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases, and luckily, in our group, each member's unique skills and strengths helped our group to achieve the shared goal most effectively, which was to complete the group assignment task within a given period. One of the most important experiences I have gained was to respect each member's work and finish my part of the presentation on time. I gained and improved the skill of listening to other members' ideas to deve...
Feedback Group 1,2 and 3 Junhao, Li                       Hello, my name is Junhao Li. I am here to talk about a presentation my fellow classmates and I gave last week. Last week my classmates and I discussed what was in our textbook from chapters 4 through 6 and were split up into three groups while each group being assigned a different chapter. From there we all divided the work we’d put in and later put together what would result into a great presentation together. We were tasked with finding visual for our slides, this helped us not over rely on what we wrote but also give examples and be more neutral with our audience. Watching everyone give their speech was also inspiring to view as we saw how everyone put their research together and demonstrated their work through what they spoke. I want to first state I feel we all did amazing as a class, and ahead I will be talking about what I learned or observed from each group ...
