Kristina Dimitrova, Reflection on Group Presentations
Hello, my name is Kristina. I recently did my first group presentation in a public speaking class at Miami Dade College. For that assignment, the professor assigned the class into three groups, and we performed presentations based on summarizing the book chapters in Google Slides. I want to reflect on what we have done in the group presentation and absorb my experience to improve my skills in the future. I want to share my experience of working and elaborating in a group. Collaborating with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases, and luckily, in our group, each member's unique skills and strengths helped our group to achieve the shared goal most effectively, which was to complete the group assignment task within a given period. One of the most important experiences I have gained was to respect each member's work and finish my part of the presentation on time. I gained and improved the skill of listening to other members' ideas to develop a perfectly organized plan. I did not face any challenges thanks to the coordinated and efficient help of the team leaders, splitting up each member's parts of the presentation, and any misunderstanding disappeared. Their intros and outros Framed the display in a whole finished look.
I was nervous on
the group presentation day, which affected the fluency of my performance. The
professor's genuine personality and the supporting group members helped me stay
focused and finish my part despite my nervousness. I am giving my group members
admiration and big thanks for their support and their patience as group
members. In the future, I will dedicate myself to practicing more in front of
people to achieve fluent and confident speech performance. The members of our
group 2 also spoke about the importance of visual resources and technology. I
have learned a lot of lessons by working in the group, including how to share a
diverse perspective to highlight that each member had brought their unique
vision to get the best results. This experience and the skills I have acquired
will help me in real-life situations, such as working on team projects and
improving my future job interviews. I want to thank all my group members for
their dedication to the project. It was only possible to achieve the desired
result with each member's effort, and teamwork makes excellent work happen.
Groups 1 and 3 did highly informative and well-developed presentations. It was
a pleasure listening to them. Group one developed various valuable topics, from
the preparation to the selection and content arrangement for the production. I
learned so much from other groups presenting. The first group presented as a
committed team and prepared well-organized information.
Google slides supported with good visuals, bringing our
attention to the all-important parts of the sighted chapters, and demonstrating
excellent presenting skills. They pointed out all the essential pieces for a
good speech, including the importance of speech planning, outlining, and how
plagiarism is crucial to avoid. Each group member presented in an appropriate,
confident manner. As a result, it showed effective communication between group
members and their passion for the work done. It was a pleasure listening to
their parts. Group 3 examined the three types of presentations, such as the
informative presentation, which relates to communicating information to others.
They explained how to influence others through persuasive presentations, how
special occasion presentations differ from other displays, and how various
occasions can guide you to developing one. Having an even amount of work,
caring, and being responsible for the group. I agree with the importance of
honesty in the group and how the evaluation sheet is an excellent tool to
evaluate your performance in the project. The group members can use the
evaluation sheet to help them become more responsible members and speakers. I found
helpful information on how the group should plan its workflow, such as agreeing
on a topic, assigning leadership roles, allowing group members to choose to
work on a topic they are interested in, and dividing responsibilities.
Assigning leadership roles to aid in the division of labor to ensure teamwork
is essential. Moreover, what skills will we need for effective group
presentations? We learn that coordination, the smooth transitions from one
speaker to another, visual aid coordination, and the equal resolution of a
conflict are viral information on the connection. Smooth changes from speakers
in a group need to be planned out beforehand. Lastly, the Diversity in the
groups is excellent and does attract a larger audience.
The three groups
dedicated to the group assignment resulted in successful presentations. I
learned so much from others. In the future, I wish our group to keep
communication open. It is always more a place for improvement—intergroup
communication, resolving issues quickly within the given task, and offering
suggestions for improving one's presenting skills.
In conclusion, from
this experience, various factors will innovate in future presentations. I have
acquired knowledge by reflecting on my work and group members' work, and I will
apply it to improve my skills. I will invest more time practicing my speech,
researching, and rehearsing in future productions. I will use my prompt
communication and listening skills, which are essential to a successful group
presentation. I want to thank my group members for keeping up with the
magnificent work and taking advantage of opportunities always to learn
something new.

Great post. Yes, it is very important to keep communication open!
