Presentation feedback (Alyssia Santiago)

This week's presentations were full of interesting information. I learn so much that I didn't know about Artificial Intelligence. When doing the research for economy and mental health involving AI for group 2, the group I'm in, I learned that the government is doing a lot involving AI. One of my group members talked about how the Biden Harris administration established a blueprint of AI Bill of Rights. This is going to help address issues in areas that AI will most affect. The impact AI has on the economy is predicted to take away 85 million jobs all around the world by 2025. It is also predicted to generate 97 million new jobs. Due to the growing AI industry, workers will now have to new skills to keep up with the advance technology. If you lack any of the required skills it would lead to job loss and ultimately lead to an "AI takeover". Artificial Intelligence is also contributing to mental healthcare. Another one of my group members explained how healthcare includes Chatbots that patients can use to discuss mental issues by asking questions in resemblance to a health care provider would. They also mentioned how Covid-19 is one of the main reasons AI is being used. During the pandemic, mental health rates were so high it led to the burnout of health professionals. AI was a way to take the weight off of them, to alleviate some of that stress. Group 3 did their presentation on the effects AI has on social life, entertainment, and potential careers, which was remarkably interesting. I learned that writers have AI systems that generate scripts for TV shows and movies. Some actors and TV extras may even be replaced by AI. It is a fear for these entertainers, they sometimes reject full body scans because they do not want to put their career in jeopardy. Artificial Intelligence also impacts the art and music industry. It has the ability to generate any type of art within minutes, giving other artists inspiration right at their fingertips. I think that is so cool. Within music AI helps artists create music faster, it's able to generate beats and lyrics with sample prompts. There are also apps that people use like "Artist.ai" and "Wonder AI" for art and "Musica" and an AI voice and music generator for music. The only downside to Artificial Intelligence in the entertainment industry would be this does not allow artists to be original or creative. It also has the potential to end the career of many artists. In group 2, one of the members mentions an interesting question, Is AI replacing human interaction? And to my surprise, there are apps available like "Xiaoice", "Replika" and "Character.AI". These apps are available and let you create human-like characters and talk to them. They also mention the effect AI has on careers. Cybersecurity is being transformed by AI by machine learning algorithms being used to detect and reduce threats in real time. Surgeons are even jumping in on the AI train. Health care facilities are introducing AI into surgical practices. Group 1 speaks about 2 other interesting topics; Artificial Intelligence involving sports and education. Education has changed in the last 5 years in ways that are good and bad. The Covid-19 pandemic made technology a necessity. During the pandemic, the adoption of online learning played a significant role in making education remote and as effective as possible. AI was said to help teachers stay up to date within their field. Teachers have some weight lifted off their shoulders with the help of automated administrative assignment grading and automatic feedback generation. This not only reduces the weight but also saves them time. Another great invention is the chatbot created offering round-the-clock aid. It's great for helping students. Studies have shown the resource AI provides have helped students in their school work. Although AI has had incredible feedback it has also faced challenges. Since these systems require collection of personal data, there is a potential threat to student privacy and security. Students are becoming over-relied on Artificial Intelligence using it to cheat on assignments. This can further lead to a dependency affecting their ability to think or solve problems on their own. Depending on AI can create a lack of communication skills and lack of motivation. Group 1 also mentioned something especially important about online learning. This new and updated way of learning could affect Special Education for students with special needs. The department of education released a report supporting the opportunities found in AI learning. They supply a set of guidelines for school districts. Artificial Intelligence has also changed the sports industry within the last 5 years. This topic is especially interesting to me because group 1 states when researching the involvement of AI and sports, they were not able to find any negative changes. AI is preventing player injuries by using wearable technology to track the movements and collect data. This also makes real-time game highlights available for fans through the NFL app. Artificial Intelligence can also analyze a player's performance and find the best players for each position. They are also using this to pick the top college football players for the NFL draft. Its interesting how this works because they are also able to use Artificial Intelligence to predict how successful a certain player will be in the future. I can see this the thrill of drafting season becoming a huge competition of who can create the best winning team. All the presentations were great and I loved every bit of information that was provided. I think each group did a fantastic job at researching the different topic that are involving Artificial Intelligence.
