AI Presentation Feedback Reflection by Kamryn Samuels
As a class, we have got through a second presentation. I would like to begin by saying I believe we all did a phenomenal job bringing awareness and information on the topic of artificial intelligence and its potential effects on society. I first want to mention how outstanding Group 1 did on their presentation. Group 1 had two topics this includes education and sports. A few things stood out to me from their presentation. They talked about how since Covid-19, there has been an acceleration in the use of AI making online education better for many students. Group 1 talked about how AI can also cause students to turn in AI generated work. They also mentioned about sports and how AI has transformed sports, specifically in the NFL. It helps them stay organized when playing the game. One of the group members mentioned how it helps with player safety, drafting, fan engagement, etc. AI can also prevent player injuries which stood out me. This is because football is a contact sport and many players tend to get seriously injured and many of the times they suffer from extreme head injuries. They also get long term brain damage with diseases like CTE, so if AI will be able to decrease the likelihood or even prevent player injury that would be great. Group 1 even touched on how the Dallas Cowboys are currently using AI by showing a video that displays 4D images of player’s body motion which could be beneficial in making important plays in the game. Group 1 was very detailed and gave great information on how AI is impacting educations and sports in many ways.
Group 2 did an awesome job. Group 2 was my group and we covered the two topics of mental health and economy. We made sure to talk about how AI is impacting the economy and mental health. AI’s impact on the economy is very serious. Group 2 brought light to the fact that AI has the potential to take over the jobs of many, but it also has the potential to help society. If AI progresses fast enough there could be a decrease in jobs by about 26 million. AI also has positives toward the economy in the sense of security with artificial intelligence there would be an increase in cybersecurity. With the implementation of AI, it will be harder for people to find jobs because the artificial intelligence machines would take over. It is said that AI is enhancing many businesses. Group 2 also showed a video of how the president is helping to put AI in the business world and how to would be able to help. Group 2 also mentioned how AI also has had a huge influence and impact on mental health. Artificial intelligence has been implemented in mental health settings and has had a positive outlook. AI has the potential ability to diagnose different mental health disorders and give help to those who need it. There are different AI devices that are used in the healthcare and mental health setting. AI is also said to be implemented due the fact that there is a shortage on mental health workers globally. AI also has had a positive impact in terms of Covid-19 and helping individuals who have had Covid-19 in the past in terms of their mental health. As a member of Group 2 I even decided to include a video on how even schools like USF are bringing awareness to how AI is being used to help with mental health As a member of Group 2 more this were talked about but these are the things that stood out to me.
Group 3 had two topics which included social life/entertainment and potential careers. They showed and explained how AI affects these areas in society whether the impact be great or small. The part of the presentation that stood out to me the most was the Film & TV section and the . It stood out to me because many actors work hard to audition and get the roles that they want. I realized and learned that with AI there is a possibility that they can easily be replaced. This is for the simple fact that it takes nothing for AI to create fake but realistic images of the celebrity in that particular role. AI also has the potential to replace video audio, which in turn knocks out the opportunities and jobs actors have. Many actors and actresses will be jobless with AI continues to progress at a fast rate. I also learned from this presentation that you can easily create an entire film with just AI images alone, this was very shocking to me. A third discovery of AI that was found out by Group 3 was that there is even a possibility that performers and singers will also lose money and bookings because their voice can be replaced by AI very quickly. There are also apps that can help replicate and even generate current or old songs using different types of AI. Group 3 did a great job of even giving examples of the different apps used to produce AI generated music. It seems like AI will have a huge impact on the entertainment industry. AI can also replace humans on the social spectrum using character creation apps. This would also have a negative impact on the social internet side of things. They even included a video on how a film maker made a cartoon movie using only AI generated images, as stated before. Group 3 also talked about AIs effect on potential careers which goes pretty much hand in hand with the entertainment industry. They did a great job talking AI being used in the education world, it was only a brief mentioned since they referring to potential careers. AI can be time saving can influence and help with personalized learning and can also bring forth continuous improvement among teachers to be able to help students. Surprisingly enough, AI has had an extreme impact on art. There are many applications that are used in producing art using AI. Artists’ use these platforms to help them generate ideas but it also can be detrimental by taking away the spotlight for artist that actually work hard to create their masterpiece. Group 3 did a phenomenal job bringing their point across, they were very detailed talked about many things but these topics were the ones that stood out to me the
most.
I believe they everybody in the public speaking class did a great job. We all just completed our second presentation and once again I can say we have exceeded our expectations. Many of us started off by thinking that public speaking would be difficult but we have reached far in this semester and are still working hard towards our goal of becoming great speakers. I would like to take the time to assess how I think I did myself with this second presentation. I believe that I did a great job presenting but there are some things that still can work on. The first presentation I did I thought that I spoke too fast, so for the second presentation I made sure to slow done my words so everyone would be able to understand me and that I could get my point across. My second presentation was good but I feel as if I could have did better with the appearance of my slides. In my opinion, my slides had way too many words and could have been minimized some more and had more visuals, but I will be sure to work on that for future presentations. Overall, as a class i think we did an amazing job and have come along in reference to our first presentation. I believe that when this class ends we will be professional public speakers and will be able to speak profoundly in many ways that will benefit us with our future endeavors and in life.
